Why choose Giada? This malinois mix is the sweetest, most loving girl! Giada truly wants to be your best friend and will make sure you feel loved. If she could be anything, she’d be the teddy bear you carried around everywhere as a kid or a guardian angel that’s watching over you.
Giada is a big fluffy hug! She’s your sweet shadow just waiting for you to cuddle with her. In fact, her foster cannot emphasize how much of a cuddle bug this girl is! When it comes to new people, Giada has been great with them entering the home or meeting them out and about. She also does well with her foster’s 11-year-old boy who will wrestle and romp with her and she is always careful and gentle. With other dogs, she has quirks due to her attachment issues but can be great. She does well with her foster brother but has gotten nippy out of jealousy especially after spending a lot of time with her foster mom. She doesn’t chase her foster’s cats but did chase the pygmy goats a bit at first, however she ignores them now. She is house-trained and crate-trained but may whine a little when first crated. She knows to sit, lay down, high five/ten, come, yes (release command), and is working on fetching, stay, heel, and behind for hiking. She walks okay on leash but may still pull a little. When you aren’t looking, she may try to counter-surf. She hasn’t had access to trashcans containing food but has stolen a tissue here and there.
Giada would thrive in a structured home that has people around most of the day or are willing to take her everywhere with them. Giada is a great girl overall but needs consistency to succeed. Having dog sibling(s) would help to keep her possessiveness of her people in check, but her foster recommends her as an only dog if there are small children present as she may feel the need to protect the children from the other dog. This home shouldn’t allow her to sleep in their bed or be on the furniture and should enforce similar boundaries to keep her attachment/possessiveness to a minimum.
West Coast adoptions only, HOWEVER, if application is strong we may consider placement in other Western US states.
Our adoption process includes- completion of an application, followed by a telephone interview. If that goes well, we will arrange for a home visit.
Adoption Donation: $500.00
Transport along Interstate 5 (Bakersfield, CA to Bellingham, WA) is available but cost not included in adoption fee.
For all inquiries, please fill out our adoption application first, as the volunteer answering emails is probably not the coordinator for the specific foster home/dog.
