In our dystopian present, Futuro is the perfect friend to take shelter with! Futuro longs for human connection and will be devoted for life to the person he trusts the most. This high-drive boy will need a patient handler who will take time each day to ensure that he gets enough exercise and remains committed to his training plan. Though he still has a lot to learn, Futuro has a lot of heart and lot to give to the right person or family.
Futuro will play nicely with other dogs and has even been known to share his tug during playtime. He is currently undergoing training for reactivity. Because of this, he will need a home without small animals, children, or livestock. Futuro is working on limiting his fear aggression towards strangers and may do well in a home with another dog after whom he could model his behavior. He is initially shy and reserved with new people, but once his trust is earned, he will respect his handler and look to them for reassurance and guidance. Futuro rides well in the car, is non-reactive to loud noises, but will need a muzzle and patience when at the veterinarian’s office. He is motivated by food and praise and will stop and focus when treats are offered. Futuro is currently working on all obedience commands and is currently learning the “sit” command as a mechanism to teach impulse control. He does well in his kennel overnight but needs some reminding to remain quiet when kenneled during the day.
Active, persistent, and bold, Futuro would do best with an active dog as a playmate in a home with a large yard for running and exercise. Given his handler focus, he will need a person who is committed to spending lots of time with him as he works on his reactivity and manners in his home. He prefers to always have his handler near him, even when he is playing with other dogs. Futuro would do best in a calm home with infrequent visitors and a safe space where he can become acquainted with his surroundings on his own terms. Futuro needs a person who is patient and kind, and in return he will offer all of himself – could you be the one he is looking for?
