ABOUT FINLEY

Age: 3 years

Weight: 50lbs

Energy level: moderate

Overall drive: moderate

Location: Enumclaw, WA

Finley is a LOVER! He adores being close to his human and will gingerly follow you around the house just to be near you. He loves belly rubs, snuggles, and will nudge you for pets. He is very playful and enjoys 2-3 rigorous exercise sessions daily and equally enjoys time resting at your feet (well, on r feet) in between. He is a very mild-mannered boy who won’t join you on the couch or the bed unless he is invited. He is a fantastic communicator, too! Finley will bark to let you know when it’s dinner time, time to go outside and tussle, if someone rings the bell, or if he sees a cow in the pasture. Aside from that, he is very quiet.

Finley loves to meet new people when out shopping but will lower his ears and cower if they reach out and try to pet him too soon. He prefers to approach new people when he is ready by giving them a good sniff followed by tail wags and then soliciting touch. Visitors to the home are best introduced outside to avoid barking and pacing until he calms down and feels confident enough to walk up and sniff them. He literally does not care who arrives in the driveway and greets them with a wagging tail.

Finley is crate trained, potty trained, loves car rides – especially if there is a Puppachino to be had and was timid, but well-mannered at the vets’ office. He will startle and bark at strange noises when he is sleeping but will avoid the source silently if awake. He is motivated most by Turkey Jerky and only requires mild verbal corrections. Finley has mastered his basic obedience and working on more intermediate skills. He does have mild resource guarding towards his food which is managed by having him wait, then be released for meals, and respecting his space while he eats.

Finley’s ideal home will be looking for a low to moderately active companion who will include him in as many activities as possible. His handler will be patient as they work together to gain confidence, love to play fetch, and help him forget his rough start. He thrives on interaction, is super easy to handle, and appreciates a comfortable bed, or 3, to choose from. He will be a wonderful companion and family member and is just waiting for you to show him the world!
