Emmie is a loving, attentive, playful, companion for the right home. She’ll devote herself and bond 200% to her person, is super smart and eager to learn. Emmie has unlimited potential and if she were human, she would be a secret service agent, a personal bodyguard, or a professional athlete. Although knowing her, she’d try to be all those things and more!
This bouncy girl loves to cuddle, get belly rubs, and is learning to play with toys. She prefers to be with her person as much as possible and enjoys running and racing up the hillside and going on hikes, but she also has a great off-switch and is just as happy to lay at her humans’ feet while they work, read, or watch TV. She can be wary of strangers but has never shown any aggression and with more exposure and socialization this will likely subside. Emmie is incredibly smart and has learned how to open doors to get to her person.
Emmie loves playing with her foster sibling who is young, will ignore the large old dog in the home, but is pushy with the older medium-sized dog. Her foster actively manages and discourages this behavior. While Emmie does co-exist with a cat, she is always hyper-focused on the cat and will chase her around inside. Due to her high prey drive, a home free of cats and small animals is required. She has not been tested with children. Emmie is barrier reactive when in her crate and another animal is within eyesight (except for her playmate) so further work is needed to mitigate this behavior.
Emmie is crate trained, potty trained, and unphased by loud noises. She is cautious and a bit growly at the vet’s office but allowed the staff to win her over with some treats. She is uncertain about getting in the car, but once in she rides well. Emmie has mastered her basic skills and is working diligently to learn more advanced tasks. She is motivated most by food and play and only requires moderate verbal correction. Since Emmie is still a puppy, she will need someone dedicated to continuing her training, helping her build confidence, and ensuring boundaries are clear in the home.
Emmies ideal home will be with an active family who is home most of the day. She would love to have another male dog that is confident and playful to show her the ropes. A big, fenced yard to run and explore, or the opportunity to go on many hikes and adventures would be ideal. With her desire to please and need for confidence, she could do well in obedience, rally, and possibly agility. Emmie is a stunning blank slate so if you have the time, skills, and patience to give her, she is waiting for you to soak it all in and excited to become her best self.
