ABOUT DOUGLAS

Age: 2 years
Gender: Male
Weight: 56 lbs
Energy Level: Moderate
Overall Drive: Low
Location: Vista, CA
Cats/Small Animals: NO

Douglas is kind, sensitive, and wants to please! If he were a human, he would be a greeter; he is a good friend who is always available for his customers to lean on. Sweet and calm, he is definitely a lover and not a fighter.

He is social with other dogs, good with people he meets, and is comfortable around older children. In his foster home he finds cats intriguing, so would likely do best in a home without them. Douglas does bark at livestock, so would need some encouragement and training if he were to go to a home with large animals. He does well in a crate, manages well around loud noises, and only needs rare, light correction. He is motivated by praise from his person, toys, and food. Douglas loves to chew, so he will need lots of toys to ensure that his chewing is directed properly. He is currently working on all basic obedience and is currently most proficient with recall.

Douglas’ warm personality brings joy to all he meets and can bring peace to any home with his even demeanor. He loves being there for his family and is very willing to please – he’d try an activity as long as his people are there to support him. This easy-going boy can’t wait to find and love his forever family!

West Coast adoptions only, HOWEVER, if application is strong we may consider placement in other Western US states.

Must have previous or current, purebred Malinois experience OR other high drive working breed experience. Have no children under the age of 12 years old OR have extensive experience with children and high drive dogs.

Our adoption process includes- completion of an application, followed by a telephone interview. If that goes well, we will arrange for a home visit.

Adoption Donation: $400

Transport along Interstate 5 (Bakersfield, CA to Bellingham, WA) is available but cost not included in adoption fee.

For all inquiries, please fill out our adoption application first, as the volunteer answering emails is probably not the coordinator for the specific foster home/dog.
