ABOUT DELTA

DOB: ~12/01/2019

Weight: 54lbs

Energy Level: Moderate

Overall Drive: Moderate

Location: Vista, CA

Delta is extremely smart, motivated, and loyal to her handler.  She has tons of love to give, and the added plus is that she can not get enough belly rubs and cuddling.  This girl is very soft, fuzzy, and has a gentle disposition but is not a pushover as she is very strong-willed as well.  Do you want a fuzzy girl in your life that loves you more than life itself? If so, Delta might fill that void.

If Delta was a human her foster says that she thinks the job best suited for her would be a warehouse supervisor.  This young lady wants to keep track of everything and everyone all the time, and if something is out of place she will let you know about it ASAP.  Delta is very affectionate with the people that she knows and trusts, when you are in her “pack” you get to see her silly and goofy side which will keep a smile on your face all day!  Catching balls out of the air is one of her many talents, she should be in the hall of fame for it!  Playing with other dogs can be a little much for other dominant female dogs but she seems to get along with almost every other dog out there.  One of her odd quirks is that she loves to lick people. We think it has something to do with her knowing that we just might have treats inside our pockets that she would like to get to.

Delta loves riding in the car, usually just lays down and sleeps or quietly looks out the window at everything passing by.  The vet’ office is a bit of a scary place and she can become protective of her humans, but she doesn’t mind female staff members as much.  Loud noises do not bother her at all.  One of the other odd things that she does, is her foster notes that she sleeps upside down with her feet against the wall most of the time.  Other times she will scoot under beds, couches, and other very small places.  #IFitsISleeps  Her favorite thing on earth is her human, she could care less about the world around her as long as she has her human.

During Delta’s time in foster care she has mastered Spot/Place, Sit, Down, Roll Over, Walk with me aka Heel, and Come, and is conditioned to an e-collar. She is house trained and has never had human food, so begging is a nonissue with Delta.  If given the opportunity she won't even counter-surf, or raid the bathroom trash can if left unsupervised. She's non-destructive when monitored and a joy to be around. Delta is crate trained and does need to be crated when you leave the house. She has some separation anxiety which her foster has been working on diligently to curb and that is going well. Boundaries, structure, and consistency are key.  Due to her high prey drive a home without cats or small animals is required. She has been tested with livestock and is non-reactive with them.  Children make her uncomfortable, so a home without children is required.

Delta is an amazing young girl that needs a home that will be caring and patient with her skills that need refining.  She would be best suited for a forever home with minimal visitors, possibly another dog (male only), and no children..  She does love to sleep but needs a good hour or two each day of mental and physical stimulation to keep her busy or else like any dog she will find a job for herself.  So if you think that Delta's zest for live and desire to please  would be a good fit for you, fill out an application today- this girl is READY!!
