Crete is more heart than dog if that makes sense. She loves her people and pack very dearly and will do anything for them. High energy, high drive, she is the textbook example of a Malinois as one can possibly describe. She is small in stature at 50 pounds but by no means is she a pushover #PocketMal.
She would love a job as a bus driver, greets you with a smile and curt hello but has zero qualms with yelling at someone if they are not abiding by the rules. Her 95-pound foster brother can attest to all of her shenanigans and has gone on record stating that “she is equal to me, her attitude is the other half of her weight!”. During her morning walking routine, she has an affinity for rearranging the pine cones that mother nature put in the “wrong location”. Crete loves her crate and will not think twice about jumping in it for her breakfast/dinner/treats. Riding in the car is a favorite pastime of hers, and she is an angel at the vet's office according to the entire crew there. Loud noises do not bother her at all, she did not seem bothered by the fireworks this year in the least.
Crete loves her ball, it is HER ball and no one else’s. She does not share her ball, not aggressively possessive but will let you know she is not thrilled about someone else looking at HER ball #OnlyChildSyndrome. Not much in life is better than playing ball with her ball, except a peanut butter filled KONG that might be the #1 for her. During her time in foster, she has been noted to be somewhat of a goofball as well, flopping on the floor to play with her toys, grazing like a bear in her foster’s raspberry patch, blowing bubbles in the pool, and supposedly can belch like a Sailor and pass gas with the best of them! She is potty trained and stays in her crate when her foster is not home, as of late she has been given “supervised” free roam between the house and the backyard. The backyard has been cleared of all climbing apparatus due to her fancy parkour skills when trying to get at squirrels.
Some of the skills that Crete has mastered since coming to her foster home have been Lay Down, Drop, Crawl and Sit. Skills that are still a work in progress are Shake, Speak, Wait/Stay, and Leave It. The only thing that her foster reports that Crete should not have are “soft” toys. She will destroy them with breakneck speed and eat all of the stuffing out of them. Due to her high prey drive instincts, she would be best suited for a home with children over the age of 5 and no small animals. Her ideal home would be with an active outdoor person/people and possibly another dog to rough house with for burning off daily energy. Her foster believes she would excel in most dog sports as she is a quick learner aka a sponge.
If you want the textbook Malinois experience and have the time to devote to her training and foundation then Crete and her “Boss Girl Vibes” is the girl for you!
