Chip is a ball of puppy energy with goofball tendencies! He’s fearless, confident, and play is his number one priority. If he were a human, Chip would be a professional boxer: always up for a few rounds in the ring and afterwards ready for a snack and a nap.

Chip is active and will make a great protector, but he loves to meet new people and dogs. He can be exuberant and will need much reminding to be gentle with dogs who don’t play as roughly as he does. An easy going, neutral dog who is larger than him would be best if he were to share his home with another dog. Chip has done well around larger livestock in his foster home but he’ll need direct monitoring around small animals and would likely do best in a home with either no cats or a dog-savvy feline. Time and training will make this boy the perfect addition to an active home – he is always eager to learn new things and go on an adventure! Chip rides well in the car, is solid around loud noises, and is still learning proper house manners; such as the trash and countertops are off limits. He will need someone committed to continue his training and provide guidance and supervision as he continues to grow. Chip needs a firm but fair handler and has done well on a prong collar; he does continue to offer some pushback when corrected, and may become possessive with resources, so he will need someone experienced to manage this behavior in a positive way until he learns to consistently make better choices. Due to this behavior, a home with children over 12 is a requirement. He has mastered some basic obedience, is fully crate trained, and starting to work on more advanced skills.

Active is the perfect word to describe Chip’s ideal home. He is a dog that needs lots of opportunity for playtime as well as mental exercise and could make a great running or hiking partner once he matures. Chip wants to be with his handler but is confident enough to spend time on his own when needed. This young boy is ready to write the rest of his story with the perfect person – could it be you?
