Overall Drive: Low

Location: Seattle, WA

During your life have you ever seen pure love?  What about pure love wrapped in an 80-pound fur coat disguised as a Belgian Malinois? That is Bramble!

One of the questions that always gets asked with a foster dog is “If this dog was human what would their job be?”.  Most of the time you get a police officer, neighborhood watch, and food taste tester, but not Bramble he would rather be unemployed as he believes work is for the bees and just wants to hang out with his human on the couch.  His motivation in life is to try to get as much love from his human as possible, leaning on them, sitting on them, holding paws with them, anything to get some lovin’.  Bramble is super dog social and will play with any dog at any time of the day but doesn’t fully understand that he is a large dog and can be rather rambunctious in his play style sometimes. He is still working through some environmental training from his time before being in foster such as getting overly excited when he sees a bicycle and growling at pieces of driftwood #GottaLetItKnowWhosBoss.  Additionally, he is still learning manners with children and small animals, he would probably do best in a home with older (teenage) children and no small animals if possible #SmallAnimalsAreFriendsNotFood.

Some of the skills that Bramble has mastered during his time in his foster home are Sit and Down.  Other commands that he is currently working on are Place and Come, but these should be easily mastered as he has built up quite a food drive and will move through commands as fast as possible to get a nibble of kibble!  He goes for walks on a prong collar to curtail some of the excitement, but if there is the possibility of high-value environmental distractors, he wears an e-collar for correction as well.  Since he is still a “puppy” he is rarely left unsupervised and has been succeeding with most of his house manners with this supervision.  House training has been successful with Bramble but for some unknown reason he will only poop if he is on a “walk”, he can hold it overnight but regardless of how long he is in the yard he only does his business on a walk.  His adopter should continue to work on his in-house and out in public manners as well #80PoundToddler.

Bramble does great on car riders even with his GSD foster brother yelling at him the whole time.  He has yet to visit the vet’s office so that is unknown how that experience will go.  He was fine over the 4th of July with a small amount of medication so some desensitization for the noises earlier in the day, he seems to prefer not to be startled by the noises.  As for Bramble being a sports prospect, his foster says he would love Bikejoring and possibly some sort of agility sport if food was used as a motivator.

Bramble would do best in an active home where someone can get him the exercise his large puppy body needs, that doesn’t have small animals or small children.  He just wants to spend time with his humans and get pets/belly rubs 24/7/365.  If you think you have the energy and dedication to love this big goofball that runs like a baby giraffe and has the cutest floppy ears, then your search is over!
