ABOUT BOURBON

Age: 7 years

Weight: 83lbs

Energy Level: Low

Overall Drive: Low

Location: Stanwood, WA

Bourbon is a lovable Velcro dog who is the low-key companion you’ve been waiting for. If he were a human, he’d be a retired flagger – always ready to patrol when needed, but currently just interested in relaxing and spending time with his family. Bourbon seems to be more fond of men than women, so might do best with a male primary handler.

Bourbon is great with people and other dogs and hasn’t had any issues with reactivity in his foster home. He loves walks and does well on a loose leash, even with distractions. He’s been known to cuddle and likes affection from those he trusts. Bourbon rides well in the car, has no reactivity issues around loud noises, and does well at the veterinarian’s office if he is muzzled. He is learning to be more comfortable alone and will often howl when left by himself, so he will need a family who can continue to work with him on reducing this behavior. Bourbon is non-destructive, fully crate trained, and has mastered basic obedience.

Bourbon’s ideal home would be a quiet one where he can spend plenty of time with his handler. He will occasionally get bursts of energy that are satisfied with quick play sessions, however, is mostly quiet and prefers to just be near his person. Looking for that perfect retirement partner to warm up your winter? Bourbon is your guy!

West Coast adoptions only, HOWEVER, if application is strong we may consider placement in other Western US states.

Our adoption process includes- completion of an application, followed by a telephone interview. If that goes well, we will arrange for a meet and greet.

Adoption Donation: $500.00

Transport along Interstate 5 (Bakersfield, CA to Bellingham, WA) is available but cost not included in adoption fee.

For all inquiries, please fill out our adoption application first, as the volunteer answering emails is probably not the coordinator for the specific foster home/dog.
