Bocce is a happy, affectionate guy who would make the perfect telework co-worker! Because of his lower drive, he is content to just chill with his person at home but is also always ready for an adventure should his person be up for one. Whether you’re in for a short walk around the park or a big road trip, Bocce will beat you to the car and be ready to go!
Bocce wants nothing more than to be as close to his human as possible as often as possible for as long as possible! He is curious about his environment and can sometimes startle at new objects or sounds, but always recovers quickly with reassurance from his handler. Bocce has done well with strangers in public and is non-reactive to those passing him. He takes a bit to warm up to strangers approaching him, but almost always becomes comfortable quickly. Bocce cannot share his home with small children, small animals, or cats and is reactive to livestock. He can be reactive to dogs who solicit interaction enthusiastically but does well with slow, controlled introductions – he has not had much exposure to other dogs in his current foster home. Bocce rides well in the car, is working on basic obedience, and his crate training is a work in progress. He is working on not becoming over-excited and engaging in typical Malinois high stimulation behaviors (i.e. mouthiness, jumping) and reducing resource guarding.
Bocce would do best in a home with another dog who could match his intense playstyle or a home where he is the only dog. He will need an experienced handler who can continue to build his confidence and work on obedience and reducing the unwanted behaviors described above. He would likely do best in a quieter home as excitement can overwhelm him. Bocce is a fun, playful, people-oriented guy who just needs the perfect partner to help him continue to grow – could that be you? He’s ready to shower you with kisses in return!
