Miss Olive is not your typical Malinois, matter of fact she isn’t a Malinois at all!  She comes from a long lineage of Nanny Dogs, House Hippos, and Pibbles.  That is right Olive happens to be an American Pitbull Terrier that ended up in a Malinois rescue to help her find her forever home. She loves human contact and affection; she will be your shadow regardless of what you are doing 24/7.

If Olive was a human, she would be an author as when you look into her eyes you can tell there is a story in there trying to make its way out!  But she also might be a part-time explorer on the side as she loves to be out and about checking out new things and places.  One of her favorite things to do is ride in the car, you can tell that her heart is content as she sits staring out the window watching the world zing by.  She can take a little while to warm up with new people, so slow introductions are best as she prefers calm and mellow over fast and loud movements and people.

In typical bully breed form. Olive shows her people the sweetest and purest love there is. She is content just chilling out sleeping or just being close enough to touch her human.  She is a quiet dog that does not bark much or cause too much commotion around the house.  However, she does have a sassy side and will let you know if she wants a treat, when she is hungry, or has completed something she thinks is treat-worthy. #MeTooOlive  During training time she does pretty well as she is very food motivated, and does best with gentle correction.  If someone uses a harsh tone with her, she just shuts down.  Olive could benefit from “sterile” training locations to gain more confidence as she can sometimes get distracted and space out which hinders the training session.

During her time in foster, she has made great strides in the socialization arena and is warming up to strangers much quicker.  She has even taken trips to Home Depot, and neighborhood walks without being too shy.  As stated before she LOVES car rides, but she is not a fan of the vet’s office as you can find her usually under a chair trying to get away. #YouAintGonnaTakeHerTempThatWay  She can be indifferent about loud noises and seems to be getting better as she no longer barks when the neighbors are riding their quads or shooting on their property. Crate training has been an adventure as she was initially very vocal about not wanting to be in her crate, so that is a work in progress.

Olive is looking for her forever home that would allow her to be the star of the show as she desires. A home where she is the only dog might fit her needs best, and without small animals, as she would like to chase the local cats and small critters a little too much. A home free of chaos and frequent visitors is required. High school aged kids should be just fine as she adores her fosters children.  So if you are looking for a middle-aged lady who just wants to go on car rides, be a personal snuggler, and chill around the house, apply to be Miss Olive’s forever human!
