ABOUT BIXBY

~DOB: 7/2022

Gender: Female

Weight: 28.5lbs

Energy Level: High

Overall Drive: High

Location: Kent, WA

Bixby radiates pure energy nearly 24/7.  She has amazing drive, and we believe that she would excel in nearly every dog sport with the proper training.  Due to her young age, more will come over time with having her in your household.

If Bixby was a human, her foster says that she would be a competitive eater #MoveOverJoeyChestnut. There is nothing else on this planet that motivates Bixby more than some chow!  She is a very sweet girl but does have a serious side as well.  During her time in foster Bixby has shown that she can be very biddable with other dogs and humans as long as they respect her space.  Sometimes she can be a little possessive of her humans but if during introductions the new human has a little snack they will win over immediately.  When meeting other dogs her handler just needs to be mindful of her or the other dogs' body language, to nip any issues in the bud.

She rides in a vehicle fine both in a crate or just in the back seat of a car.  During her vet’s office visits, she is easily distracted by a lick mat from the staff and pays no attention to what is going on around her.  The new year's fireworks did not faze her at all, she is rock solid around loud noises.  For correcting errant violations of her manners just a stern “no” from her handler will suffice for stopping her in her tracks.  Potty training is a going well she is starting to use the door signal to let her foster know it is time.  Additionally, due to her young age and impulsiveness, she will counter-surf and raid the trash cans to find some yummy leftovers if left unattended.  Some of the items that her foster is working on are finalizing potty training signals, impulse control around food, jumping for food in a person’s hands, and some resource guarding.  #FriendlyReminderStillAPuppy

Bixby has mastered commands such as Sit and Outside.  Commands still being worked on are Down, Leave it, Out, and Wait.  She has not shown any major destructive tendencies but is still learning what is ok to chew on and what is not ok.  Her crate training is a work in progress, she eventually settles down in her crate but there is a lot of puppy energy to burn off before she goes in her crate, and after she comes out of it #BallOf Energy.  Additionally, just like other puppies and human children, she should not be left unsupervised due to high levels of energy and curiosity.

Bixby’s forever home must be experienced in Malinois or other high-energy, high drive working dogs.  Someone who understands the amount of structure she needs to be successful in life and not going to leave her to her own devices.  If you are well-versed in the items listed above, looking for a competitive pocket-rocket pup to do sports or other work, and are up for the challenge, then Bixby is waiting for you.
