Location: Seattle, WA

Basil is truly the sweetest dog with the kindest soul and cutest smile you’ll ever see. Despite her 70-pound frame, she’s convinced she’s a lap dog and would love the opportunity to snuggle right up next to you! Basil lives her life at a slower pace but she’s always up for a long walk. She’s the best of both worlds, ready at any moment for a day full of walks or a day spent on the couch.

Basil loves humans and spends her days trying to make them happy, whether it be her person or a stranger just walking by. She has done well with everyone she's met including children, though she’d likely do best with older children given her size. Basil does need some guidance when meeting new dogs as she sometimes struggles with introductions. She rides well in the car, has done well at the veterinarian’s office, and is mostly solid around loud noises. She will need a home without stairs. Basil is catching up on the basic obedience work she may have missed when she was younger and she is very food-motivated which makes her a quicker study. Despite her age and size, she is very interested in small animals and will give chase if she is allowed. She is currently working on redirecting this behavior in her foster home. Basil is not crate trained but has done very well loose in her foster home even when left alone.

Basil would love a calm house with enough people to give her all the affection that she wants and deserves! She loves humans, so she could do well in a home with people who are home frequently and even those who have some visitors. If introduced properly, she may get along with another dog. Basil would love people who will continue to take her on long walks or have a large yard she could explore. This gal is ready to prove that not only can you teach an old dog new tricks, but an old dog can even teach you a thing or two!

West Coast adoptions only, HOWEVER, if application is strong we may consider placement in other Western US states.

Our adoption process includes- completion of an application, followed by a telephone interview. If that goes well, we will arrange for a home visit.

Adoption Donation: $400.00

Transport along Interstate 5 (Bakersfield, CA to Bellingham, WA) is available but cost not included in adoption fee.

For all inquiries, please fill out our adoption application first, as the volunteer answering emails is probably not the coordinator for the specific foster home/dog.
