Babcock is an extremely loving dog once he is comfortable around you and his surroundings.  He is the type that will sit back and take note of every detail about every single thing around him.  His best pal in the world is his human and loves being part of a multi-dog home.

If Babcock was a human and had one of our pesky human jobs, his foster thinks he would be a private investigator. He observes his surroundings non-stop, always taking note of every single detail of his world and jotting it down in his memory bank.  He is extremely shy and cautious, but very sweet at the same time.  Confidence-building exercises and training should be a top priority for Babcock’s potential adopter.  Additionally, he will need some further socialization training to help with his confidence as well.  We realize that the world can be big and scary for some dogs that have come from shelter life or a rough start in life, but just imagine the satisfaction you can have knowing that you helped them overcome their fears.

Babcock does not mind riding in the car, but he should be crated at all times for his own safety.  Loud noises seem to startle him and make him look for a “safe space” to hide.  This guy does have a goofy side with his foster, and it comes out quite often now that he is comfortable in their home.  He likes to ambush his foster at the top of the stairs, he will nibble on their hand and want to wrestle.  So, we know there is a big ol’ goofball in there just waiting to come out for that special someone.  Currently, he is living with three other dogs, two females, and another male.  We think he likes this situation due to feeling safe in numbers and they seem to boost his confidence quite a bit.

During his time in foster Babcock has been working on the Sit command, but this fella is a blank slate, so it is a slow process.  He is crate trained and since he doesn’t signal to go outside,  frequent trips are needed so he doesn’t have accidents and until he can figure that signal out.  As for bad habits, he does enjoy a good shoe to chew on from time to time, but only if he is left unattended to his own devices.  #AdultSupervisionRequired  His biggest motivator is praise, doesn’t so much care for toys or treats, but loves praise when he is a good boy.

Babcock is a diamond in the rough that needs a gentle hand to polish into the big goofball that we all know is inside the fuzzy body of his.  His forever home needs to understand that it will take work and time to get him to that point, but we know he will thrive in the correct environment.  A quiet home that has teenage children would be fine as well as a dog friend or two since he likes being part of the pack. This shy and sensitive guy wants nothing more than to be included in the day to day activities as much as possible.  So, if you think you have the correct polishing instruments in your home life for Babcock, please apply! This boy is ready to SHINE!
