Axel is a loveable, goofy dog that is sweeter than a sugar cube!  He loves his person and doing anything around them as long as they are nearby.  This guy is a large fella and handles his size accordingly, no bull in a China shop here.  #HunkaHunkaFloppyEaredLove  You’ll have to keep reading if you want to know more about this ball-loving beefcake!

If Axel was a human with one of our amazingly fun human jobs #Yawn his foster thinks that he would be a great rodent exterminator.  He has a super sniffer for a nose it would appear.  Although he would make a great exterminator of small rodents, he would also make a great sales clerk since he is extremely friendly to everyone.  #NeverMetAStranger  His favorite thing in the world behind his human is his ball, this guy will do dang near anything for his ball!

Axel has lovely house manners, enjoys his crate, and will retreat there when left alone. If he needs correcting a simple “no” will suffice to stop and redirect unwanted behaviors.  When people come over to visit, he can get a little excited to see old friends, new friends, or the mailman and likes to show them how tall he can stand, so curbing the jumping is something Axel is working on.

During Axel’s time in foster, he has mastered the Sit, Down, Brace, Stay, Come, With Me, Bed, and Crate commands.  He is still working with his trainer on more advanced skills and to keep the ones he knows polished. Axel is always ready to go 24/7, has visited doctors' offices, and restaurants, and has a nice off-switch when it’s time to wind down for the day.

Axel is looking for a forever home where he could be the only dog as he has “only child syndrome”, he is fine out and about working around other dogs but does not do well with other dogs in his home.  Due to his high prey drive, a home free of cats or other small animals is required. His new home should be ready to provide the boundaries, structure and training he thrives on to ensure he will continue to be the best version of himself.
