Weight: 35 lbs

Energy level: Moderate

Overall drive: Moderate

Location: Portland, OR

Have you ever wondered what would happen if you mixed the athleticism of David Beckham with the boundless energy of a little brother together?  Well feast your eyes upon Asher!

This young man loves his zoomies and toys just about more than anything in the world.  Asher is a loyal and happy guy, at only 35 pounds, this suspected Labrador Retriever mix is travel size!  #TeamFloppyEars.  Asher loves being around people and does well with kids over the age of 5.  Asher sleeps all night and plays most of the day, he always has a smile on his face and has never met a human that he does not like.

During his time in his foster home, he has mastered commands such as No, Stay, Heal, Stop and Easy.  He is currently working on being awarded his gold star for Sit and Shake as well .  He does have a high drive for small animals (rabbits, squirrels, birds, etc.) and has not been tested with cats.  With this drive he could possibly excel in a sport such as Barn Hunt, where he could put that drive to good use by finding all the rats hidden around the Barn!  Additionally, he does have quite the nose on him, always sniffing and being very inquisitive everywhere he goes.  For rewards during training Archer has chosen to go with healthier options in the FDA Food Pyramid such as broccoli, cauliflower, green beans and strawberries #HealthyFella.  But if a slice of thick cut hickory smoked bacon was to head his way from time to time, we’re sure that he would not turn it away.

Asher does enjoy car rides but does not like traveling in the seat of the car.  He would rather live the life of luxury on the floor where the air conditioning blows on him so he can curl up and sleep the ride away in comfort.  He is not a fan of loud noises such as fireworks and the 4th of July was not his favorite day at all.  This has the possibility of getting better over time with positive reinforcement, but it is a scary time for most dogs.  Asher has no bad habits; he can just be a little hard headed sometimes #CantWeAll.  For correcting just using a firm but loving voice and reinforcing good behavior with healthy treats works.

Asher will do well in an active home where he can get plenty of exercise as he loves to play, run and do whatever his humans are doing.  So, if you are looking for a lifetime adventure buddy who has child-like excitement every time you come home and are missing a belly that needs scratching, then look no further than Asher!
